Angela Aki - Tashikani

Tracklist:
1. Tashika ni
2. Tashika ni -piano version-

Tashikani is Angela Aki’s 7th single. It was released on the 11th of July, 2007. It sold 11,210 copies, placing it at number 11 on the Oricon weekly charts.

Tashikani sounds genuine, not much synthesised music here, which makes it have a cosy & happy feel to it. The lyrics are relatively straight forward mainly consisting of “La la la la la”, “Tashika ni” and “Woooaah!” The message is pretty plain in the song. She loves someone, but she’s in pain, creating a bittersweet atmosphere. The lyrics are really repetitive and get annoying after a while. Lyrically I liked it, but I just wish there was more to it, rather then “Tashika ni” every five seconds.

The piano version sounded relatively the same, but without the drums, which makes a quieter atmosphere, although Angela does pound on the piano keys pretty hard. All in all a good song, but not enough to make me excited about it.

Tashikani wasn’t the best single Angela Aki has released, becauser it didn’t showcase and new or ground-breaking material. I thought the single would have been better if it wasn’t so repetitive.

Ne-Yo Feat. Utada - Do You

Tracklist:
1. Do You (feat. Utada)

Well what can I say? This song has absolutely blown me away. Utada’s voice sounds so different and so much smoother, calm and she sounds more vocally relaxed. This song is very different from Utada’s other songs, her voice is very different, and man its good! Hopefully her upcoming English album will be like this. Ne-Yo on the other hand, meh, he was average, Utada clearly steals the show. I love her vocals in this song that I listened to it over 50 times in the first day! The lyrics are deep and meaningful, as are most of Utada’s songs, but these lyrics are bittersweet, and overall amazing! Utada has done it again, and well as for you Ne-Yo, I guess you’re okay too.
